Well, it should be clear before we get started that Roku does not include any payment for account activation or device installation. In case you want to see paid channels in the future, it asks for your billing details. Activation is free, but it is compulsory to enter your billing details.
If you already use Roku, reboot the computer to configuration > Advanced system settings > and restart the factory.
Or if you plugged in Roku for the first time, then you should see the setup page.
Select a language, and link to your Wi-Fi network, enable it to detect the best resolution of the device.
Once that's finished, by going to the web browser, you'll be asked to trigger Roku. Only write down a piece of paper with the 4-digit alphanumeric code because we'll need it later.
So, to do this, you must use your device and go to the custom link you can see on the screen instead of going to the link shown on the TV (you can also find it in the video description).
Create a new account by entering your general details like name, email, password etc., just like you did, when you first set up the device.
In the next part, I suggest you set up some 4-digit PIN that you can recall if you want a PIN code before making a purchase.
And that's it, you're making your latest Roku account.
You will see the option to update your payment method in the account section. If you decide to watch paid channels on Roku in the future, you can update your billing details from here, and you can download the Roku paid channels from there if you go to the Roku channel store.
- Let's skip it for now and set up your Roku without a credit card.
- Go to www.roku.com/link to do this and enter the screen's code you can see.
- Click on ' I already have a Roku account ' in the next screen and sign in the one you've just built in the previous step.
- In the next stage, if you can't see anything on the page, you might need to refresh the browser.
- Next, you'll be asked to enter your payment details (wait what?) Ok, fortunately, if you scroll down, you'll see a ' skip ' button, I'll add a name to your account later, and you're done.
- Now go to your TV where we've set up your Roku system.
- You will remember that your channels will be updated by Roku. You can access and log in to networks such as Netflix.
- So, what about content from Amazon Prime or Hulu?
- Okay, the drawback of this approach is that you can't watch Roku's US or UK channels.
In short, if you just want to use Roku without a credit card, sign up with the special connection, but you need to enter your credit card or PayPal information if you want to see geo-restricted content on Roku.
